Workshop teachers are selected from our ‘visiting’ artists from the mainland. This  is an opportunity for local aspiring artists to take classes from professional artists that they might not normally be able to study with due to the cost to travel to other locations. In addition, the workshop teachers often have their mainland students attend the event so that they can experience new places, partake in the activities, as well as take a workshop. Classes are limited so that students receive individual instruction. See specific workshop details for the each of by clicking on links below.

MPAPI fosters art education for youth on Maui. A focus on exposing and training young artists so they will consider art as a potential career is a goal of the organization. Each year this aspect of ‘giving back’ to the community may be different. In past years the focus was on high school student scholarships in the workshops and purchasing art supplies for the high school students.

Maui Arts League is excited to offer two plein air painting workshops in conjunction with the February, 2018 Maui Plein Air Painting Invitational. Both professional artists excel at ‘teaching.’  It is one thing to be a great artist, and yet another to be a superior instructor. Our workshop teachers are selected from the group of MPAPI professional ‘visiting artists’. Leon Holmes from Australia and Morgan Samuel Price from Florida will share their painting knowledge and techniques with  workshop attendees. You won’t want to miss out.
