Maui Arts League, sponsoring organization of this event, was pleased to offer this youth art event for our young artists within our  community. The goal of the event is to encourage young artists to explore their artistic talents. ‘Growing future artists’ is important to society’s long-range healthiness and Maui Arts League intends to be an active participant in making this happen. The event was held in the Campbell Park on Front Street in Lahaina. The park is located next to the Lahaina Restoration Foundation’s office and the Baldwin House.

Following the Paint Out, the students, their parents, and the public are invited to a reception at the Pioneer Inn 2:30-3:30 p.m.  Light refreshments served. Kim von Tempsky, retired VP of Marketing from Lahaina Galleries, judged the student exhibition. Students paintings selected for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in K-5, Middle School, and High School received award ribbons and gift certificates for art supplies at Lahaina Ace Hardware. These three paintings was exhibited along side award winners of the Maui Plein Air Painting Invitational artists during the weekend activities at the Royal Lahaina Resort Feb. 23-25, 2018.

The Youth Paint Out was open to the first 40 students that registered. Overwhelming response ended with 58 students wishing to participate. The Paint Out was free to the students and art supplies are furnished by Maui Arts League. Maui Arts League is excited to offer two plein air painting workshops in conjunction with the February, 2018 Maui Plein Air Painting Invitational. Both professional artists excel at ‘teaching.’  It is one thing to be a great artist, and yet another to be a superior instructor. Our workshop teachers are selected from the group of MPAPI professional ‘visiting artists’. Leon Holmes from Australia and Morgan Samuel Price from Florida will share their painting knowledge and techniques with  workshop attendees. You won’t want to miss out.
