2018 Maui Plein Air Painting Invitational: Feb 17-25, 2018

Viewing art at the 2017 MPAPI awards show

The dates for the 2018 Maui Plein Air Painting Invitational (MPAPI) are planned for February 17 – 25, 2018.  The MPAPI event is held the week of President’s Day. President’s Day is always the third Monday of the month in February. The event venue is filled with art-related activities throughout the 9-days of the Invitational. It includes 3 MPAPI paint outs, 1 Youth Paint Out, 6 art sale opportunities, an art lecture, 2 mingle-with-the-artists’ events, and 2 art discussion panel sessions.  There are two 3-day art workshops; one before the MPAPI event and the other after. Plan your trip to include attending this 9-day art event.  February is high season on Maui and planning is required to ensure hotel and rental car reservations.

The 2018 Arts Roster includes 15 artists returning from last year, 5 from previous years (2006-2016), and 5 new artists to the event. Click here to review the 2018 Participating Artists.

Workshop

Maui Arts League is excited to offer two plein air painting workshops in conjunction with the February, 2018 Maui Plein Air Painting Invitational. Both professional artists excel at ‘teaching.’  It is one thing to be a great artist, and yet another to be a superior instructor. Our workshop teachers are selected from the group of MPAPI professional ‘visiting artists’. Leon Holmes from Australia and Morgan Samuel Price from Florida will share their painting knowledge and techniques with  workshop attendees. You won’t want to miss out.
