The 2016 Artists’ Aloha Reception sponsored by One Main Plaza is the place to be on Saturday, February 20, 2016 – 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Village Galleries in Lahaina. The hours have been expanded from 2 hours to 4 hours to encourage art enthusiasts and collectors from throughout the island and that are visiting Maui to stop in to see some very special works of art.  Come meet the artists, engage in conversation, view and purchase freshly created plein air paintings of Maui’s scenery, people, and buildings.

We will be exhibiting the 15 winners on a ‘wall of honor’. This opportunity will allow the viewer to study the various artists’ styles and contemplate why these paintings were selected from the 100 paintings for awards.

On Saturday, artists are allowed to replace sold paintings from Friday’s event, as well.  Minimum artwork sizes are 8″x10″ and maximum size is typically 16″x20″. In addition, this year artists are allowed to exhibit ‘one’ larger painting not to exceed 20″x24″. We anticipate a morning full of friends viewing wonderful art.  It is just a fun time to visit the gallery. Music an light refreshments and beverages will be served.

Workshop

Maui Arts League is excited to offer two plein air painting workshops in conjunction with the February, 2018 Maui Plein Air Painting Invitational. Both professional artists excel at ‘teaching.’  It is one thing to be a great artist, and yet another to be a superior instructor. Our workshop teachers are selected from the group of MPAPI professional ‘visiting artists’. Leon Holmes from Australia and Morgan Samuel Price from Florida will share their painting knowledge and techniques with  workshop attendees. You won’t want to miss out.
